Welcome to the new and improved Jersey City Employment and Training Program (JCETP)!

In order to make Jersey City a first class city, we must have a robust jobs plan and it is a personal priority of mine to find every available job in Jersey City and match our residents to those opportunities.  This will be realized with our new leadership and new vision at JCETP.

We believe investing in our families is an investment in our city and its future.  We are building and broadening partnerships with our business community so that our entire city benefits from Jersey City’s growth and development.  Not only will we continue to have an office on Summit Avenue, but we have also established an office on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive as the “HUB”.  We are also bolstering services including our jobs bank, job coaching, resume building, GED prep, apprenticeship programs, and CDL and computer training.  All 250,000 Jersey City residents should visit the JCETP, as it is a resource and tool for improving their future.

Yours truly,

Steven M. Fulop

Mayor Steven M. Fulop Recognizes EMT Trainiees

Through the combined efforts of the City of Jersey City, Jersey City Employment and Training Program and Jersey City Medical Center, 14 residents that include struggling job-seekers who have recently been on unemployment or meet low-income guidelines have been enrolled in an Emergency Medical Technician certification course.  Because of a collaborative state and local grant program, Jersey City Medical Center will provide a 20-week intensive training program at no cost to the students.  Upon successful completion of the course, these residents will be offered local employment at over $16 per hour.  The class kicked-off at the Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center on Thursday, July 24, 2014 and students were welcomed by special guests Jersey City Medical Center President and CEO Joseph F. Scott and Barnabas Health President and CEO Barry H. Ostrowsky.  They were recognized by Mayor Steven M. Fulop for their commitment to the care and safety of the community.
